Privacy Policy

1. Your voice stays on your Mac

• Speech recognition runs entirely on your Mac. Your voice is never sent to us or to anyone else.
• English, on macOS 26 or later, uses the speech recognition built into macOS. It also runs on your Mac, and Apple does not receive your voice.
• The microphone turns on when you hold the dictation key, and during the microphone test in setup. It turns off about 8 seconds after you let go. It is not listening the rest of the time.
• Audio is kept in memory only while it is turned into text. It is never saved to disk.

2. Your text

• The text is typed into the app you are using. We never receive it.
• To type it, LomiSpeak briefly puts the text on your clipboard and pastes it, then puts back what you had copied about half a second later. Clipboard managers, and Universal Clipboard on your other Apple devices, may see it. If you had copied an image or a file, it is replaced by the text.
• LomiSpeak keeps a history of your last 500 dictations on your Mac so you can copy them again: the text, when you said it, how long you spoke, the language, and a word count. It also keeps a running count of words per day. None of it is uploaded.
• To delete the history, quit LomiSpeak, choose Go › Go to Folder in Finder, enter ~/Library/Application Support/lomispeak-desktop, and delete that folder. This also resets the app's settings and its anonymous account.

3. The keys you press

On a Mac, LomiSpeak only watches modifier keys such as fn, Control and Option, to notice when you hold the dictation key. It never sees the letters you type, and records and sends nothing about your typing.

4. What the app sends over the internet

A small amount of information is needed to run the app. None of it includes your voice or your text.

• An anonymous account. On first launch the app creates an anonymous account with Google Firebase, with no name or email. It signs in to that account each time it starts. The first time, it also registers the account with our server, which is hosted by Modal, together with a random device ID. We use this to count how many Macs use LomiSpeak.
• App settings. About every 6 hours the app downloads its settings from Google Firebase, for example which languages are available. This request carries a random install ID.
• Speech models and updates. The app downloads speech models from models.lomisolutions.com and checks downloads.lomisolutions.com for updates. These requests include the app's name and version and that it runs on a Mac. Update checks, at launch and about every 6 hours, also carry a random ID the updater creates.
• English. If you press Download next to English in Settings, macOS downloads Apple's English speech model from Apple. Many Macs already have it, and then nothing is downloaded.
• Like any server, the servers above see your IP address when the app contacts them.

5. What we don't collect

No recordings, no transcripts, no keystrokes, no screen contents, no contacts, no location. The app has no advertising, analytics, or crash-reporting tools.

6. Permissions

• Microphone: to hear you while you hold the dictation key.
• Accessibility: to notice the dictation key and to type the text into the app you are using.

You can turn either off at any time in System Settings › Privacy & Security.

7. Purchases

Purchases are handled by our online reseller, Lemon Squeezy, which collects your payment details, name, email and billing address under its own privacy policy. We receive your order details, such as your name, email, country and order number, so we can help with support and refunds. We never see your card number.

8. Your log file

The app does not keep a log unless you turn one on to help us fix a problem (see Support). That log stays on your Mac unless you email it to us. It does not contain your transcripts, but it does include your microphone’s name and your time zone.

9. Children

LomiSpeak is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.

10. Changes

We may update this policy. The date at the top shows the latest version.
