Setting up the keyboard
The keyboard isn’t showing up.
It has to be turned on in Android’s own keyboard settings first. The quickest way is from inside LomiSpeak: open the app and tap Open keyboard settings, then turn on LomiSpeak.
To get there by hand, the path is usually Settings → System → Languages & input → On-screen keyboard → Manage on-screen keyboards. Phone makers word this differently — on Samsung it’s Settings → General management → Keyboard list and default. Android will warn you that a keyboard can collect what you type; that warning is shown for every keyboard, and LomiSpeak does not collect, log, or transmit your keystrokes.
How do I actually switch to LomiSpeak while typing?
Turning it on doesn’t select it. Tap any text field so a keyboard opens, then tap the keyboard-switch icon — it appears in the navigation bar at the bottom of the screen, or in the corner of the keyboard — and choose LomiSpeak. Your choice sticks until you switch again.
How do I switch between Tigrinya, Amharic and English?
Swipe sideways along the space bar. There is no separate toggle key — the swipe moves you through the layouts you have turned on, and the space bar shows which one you’re in.
You can also tap the keyboards button on the suggestion bar to choose which layouts are in that cycle. It only appears while the field is still empty, since changing layout is setup rather than something to do mid-message.
Is there a “Full Access” setting to turn on?
No — that’s an iPhone thing. On Android there is nothing extra to enable: once the keyboard is turned on and selected, everything in it works, including voice typing.
Voice typing
Voice typing isn’t working.
The mic needs two things: permission, and an internet connection. Tap the mic on the keyboard and choose Allow when Android asks for microphone access.
If you refused once before, Android stops asking. LomiSpeak then opens its own settings page for you instead — turn the mic on under Permissions → Microphone → Allow. You can also get there yourself: Settings → Apps → LomiSpeak → Permissions.
Typing in Ge’ez script keeps working with no permission and no connection at all. Only the mic and translation need the network.
What does the mic listen for?
Whichever language is named on the pill under the mic — Tigrinya, Amharic, or Afaan Oromoo. Tap it to change. It is deliberately separate from the keyboard layout you type in, so you can dictate in one language while typing in another.
I’ve used up my free voice typing for today.
The free plan includes a set number of dictations a day, and the counter at the top of the app shows what’s left and when it resets. It resets on its own — nothing to do but wait, or upgrade to Premium, which removes the daily cap.
Payment & billing
LomiSpeak Premium on Android is billed by Google Play, not by us. If a renewal fails, the app shows a red “Payment issue” banner on the Account screen.
Why am I seeing “Payment issue”?
Google Play couldn’t charge the payment method on your Google account — usually an expired card, a new card number, an insufficient balance, or a bank declining the charge. It doesn’t mean anything is wrong with your LomiSpeak account.
How do I fix it?
Tap Update payment on the banner — it opens your subscriptions in the Play Store. You can also get there yourself: open the Play Store, tap your profile picture, then Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → LomiSpeak.
Do I need to buy the subscription again?
No. Update the payment method and your existing subscription carries on — same price, same plan. If you buy a second one while the first is still being sorted out, you may end up paying twice.
How do I cancel or change my plan?
In the Play Store → your profile picture → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions. Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep Premium until the period you’ve already paid for ends.
I was charged but I’m still on the free plan.
Open Account and tap Restore purchases. Signing in with the same account you bought on also brings Premium with you to a new phone. If neither works, email support@lomisolutions.com — we can check your subscription and restore access manually.
Can I get a refund?
Because Google Play takes the payment, refunds go through Google Play rather than through us — request one from Google’s refund page or from the order in your Play Store account. Email us anyway if something went wrong; we’ll help where we can.
Your privacy
Does the keyboard see everything I type?
No. LomiSpeak does not collect, log, or transmit your keystrokes. Audio you record with the mic is sent to our servers to be transcribed and is not kept afterwards. The full detail is in the Privacy Policy.
How do I delete my account and my data?
Open Account in the app and choose to delete your account. That permanently removes your data from our servers. If you have an active subscription, cancel it in the Play Store first — deleting the account does not cancel Google Play billing.
